• The Company
In operation since 1988, the Micro-Pigmentation Centre is an innovative Canadian company that provides comprehensive information, training and tools in the area of professional permanent makeup.
In the early days of the company, Pat Gauthier, founder and president of the Micro-Pigmentation Centre, became frustrated by the overall lack of quality control in the industry. She began a journey of self-education that continues to this day.
That frustration with the lack of uniform standards in the industry became the catalyst for many positive directional changes in the company. As a result, new ways to promote and monitor the professional side of the business were implemented.
• Research and Development
Recognizing a need for advanced training techniques, quality equipment and quality tattoo pigments, Pat and the Micro Pigmentation Centre committed their energies to research and development. Through collaboration with a manufacturing company, they successfully developed a proprietary line of cosmetic tattoo pigments that are stable and easy to work with while maintaining their original color. They supply products to hospitals, plastic surgeons, and estheticians across North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
As the company grew, the company founders realized there was need for more advanced equipment. In the tattooing industry, the early days of using hand held needles to tap the pigment into the skin have given way to digital technology. The latest, the Nouveau Contour Intelligent, is equipped and controlled with an Intel microprocessor chip, and is an integral part of their excellent training program.
Continuing their mandate to give the highest priority to achieving new standards in the field of cosmetic tattooing, they began working with professionals in the cosmetic surgery field. They met with Doctor Michael Drever, an internationally renowned plastic surgeon, and together developed a specific needle grouping to be used in surgical machines in the operating room.
• Training and Education
The highest priority is given to the development of education and training courses. Early in the history of the company, the directors and trainers of the Micro-Pigmentation Centre realized there was a serious gap in training programs in the field of permanent makeup. Many trainees were graduating from their courses in one or two days having never performed even the most basic procedures on a live model.
They implemented a four-day training course followed by a one-day advanced training course where every student benefits from their “hands on” approach. This level of commitment to the training program created an industry standard that other companies are now trying to catch up with. The international reputation of the Micro-Pigmentation Centre has attracted trainees from as far away as Europe and Australia.
